Teen Therapy
What happened??!!
Now, your teenager spends most of the time in their room with the door closed. They ask YOU to knock before you come in!
It’s like you don’t exist. Even their friends “know more than you.”
It’s getting harder and harder to communicate. It seems like everything backfires these days, with someone ending up mad or irritable.
It’s so bad that you can’t help but wonder if you’ve failed as a parent.
A hopeless flurry of self-doubt…
“How could this happen?”
“Where did I go wrong?”
“What did I miss?”
Believe me… you are NOT alone. Many parents desperately seek answers to those same questions (whether they admit it or not).
Parenting isn’t easy… maybe because no one ever taught us how to do it. I know you’re doing your best.
And it’s okay to seek help for your concerns about your teenager.
After all, teenagers are “a lot.”
They might go through their parents’ separation or divorce, a loss in the family, life in a new place, lack of friends, confusion about their sexuality, or academic struggles like making good grades or getting into a good college. There’s no shortage of pressure on them from peers, social media, society, school, and families.
In their struggle, they’re likely to develop issues with self-esteem, confidence, eating disorders, perfectionism, anxiety, body image, or their very identity.
And they’re young, so they’re not equipped to cope well with the stress. If they’re turning to things like substances or self-harm, it can be extremely scary for you as their parent.
Therapy can help.
Therapy is an outlet for them. Here, they can talk about their issues openly, without judgment or fear. I help them understand their emotions, express them, and cope with them healthily.
Through our work together, your teen will break negative cycles, overcome fear and doubt, feel comfortable in their body, become confident, and communicate well with others.
You need support and guidance, too.
Parenting support and family sessions are a huge help when dealing with teenagers!
My approach is to create a peaceful and safe environment for your family to communicate through hard times, strengthen connections, and improve your relationship.
